Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to participate in all the bridge games, lessons & activities?

No.  Play and participate in as little or as much as your wish.  This is your vacation!

If I book a sailing without the bridge experience group, can I play in the games, participate in the lessons, etc. on board?

No.  To participate in the bridge experiences and events, you must reserve for "Sagamore at Sea Bridge Group" 60 days in advance of any sailing. Exceptions cannot be made on board.  Be sure to tell our representative or your travel agent to book with the "Bridge Experience Group" when making your reservation.

Is there a charge for the bridge games, lessons and activities?

No.  Although most bridge cruises charge $700-1000 over the cost of the cruise rate to participate in the bridge events, we have arranged with The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection to include these at no charge for our voyages.  There are no hidden fees or up charges to be part of this group.

What does my sailing fee include?

All of our sailings are All-Inclusive.  Every voyage begins with the proper accommodations and onboard offerings. Our yacht experience offers impressive suites enhanced with a private oceanview terrace in every suite and tailored features. Guests can enjoy in-suite dining or visit one of the world-class onboard restaurants for culinarily curated menus incorporating local ingredients and Michelin star quality.  In addition, all guests aboard can enjoy a variety of world-class features as part of their all-inclusive cruise fare, regardless of suite type or voyage duration including: Personal Concierge, gratuities, 24-hour in-suite dining, beverages, entertainment and enrichment, Wi-Fi, marina-style platform with access to non-motorized watersports while at anchor.

What doesn't my sailing fee include?

Port fees and taxes are not included and will be explained to you at the time of booking. Also, any additional ammenities you choose to add, such as, spa treatments, optional excursions, use of motorized watersport equipment, hotels and flights.

What about booking flights, hotel accommodations or travel insurance?

The Ritz-Cartlon Yacht Vacation Consultants can design a seamless travel experience for you from beginning to end. Find peace of mind with customized reservation arrangements, where you can choose your preferred airline, class of service or help facilitate your private air arrangements. Additional services such as travel insurance, luggage shipments and ground transfers can also be arranged for an additional fee.

What is the level of bridge play?

We have all levels of players join us on our voyages. We keep the focus of our games on FUN!  We prepare our lessons for all levels and cater to the group that travels with us, adjusting and offering something for everyone.  MOST who come are Beginners, Advanced Beginners and Intermediates...we rarely get "sharks"!

What happens if I want to travel alone?

We have solo travelers all the time!  We begin our voyage with a welcome reception, so you will meet all of the travelers in our group within hours of boarding. For dining, we organize a few group tables for guests who wish to dine with others in our group.  We mix it up, so you meet and enjoy the company of different new friends.  When it is time to play bridge, you will have a partner guaranteed!  We always have a few singles to choose from, and we bring a few along with us.

I fear getting seasick. How can I avoid this?

The brand-new, Evrima Yacht is equipped with state-of-the-art stabilizers which dramatically improve ride comfort in any sea-state or wave angle. Most voyages will stay close to land and not venture out into high seas, so we expect a very smooth sailing.  However, there is a special wrist band which applies pressure points to relieve the feeling of uneasiness, as well as a patch that can be applied behind your ears.  Your doctor can prescribe an anti-nausea medication also. In general, on todays' modern ships, most do not suffer from seasickness.

My Wife/Husband doesn't play bridge. What can they do?

There is so much on the yacht to enjoy!  The ship has many programs and enhancements to choose from daily. Also, your partner can join us for the social portions of our program, where we meet to enjoy cocktails, play trivia, etc.   During our social game time, we have leisure bridge play, canasta, chess, and sometimes mahjongg as choices. They may partake in all of our excursions, dine with our group and participate in our welcome receptions and farewell celebration dinner, too.  There is very little they can't do with us, except playing bridge.

I have dietary restrictions, can I be accommodated?

Oh yes!  Almost all dietary requests from sugar-free, lactose-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, salt-free, nut-free and other restrictions are easily accommodated. Just ask and the ladies and gentlemen of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection will be happy to make arrangements to meet your needs.

Is there really time to do everything?

Yes.  We structure everyday so nobody has to miss a meal, and strategically change the daily order of our games, lessons and social sessions, so as to leave plenty of flexibility for you to enjoy everything the ship has to offer, onboard and in port.

What if I have to cancel the cruise?

Up until 120 days before the cruise begins, you can cancel and get all your money returned less an administrative fee of $250 (due to covid, 100% is currently being returned). Within 120-91 days of the cruise, there will be cancellation charges, starting at 25% and if cancelled 90-61 days of the cruise, the charge will be 50%.  60-31 days, 75% and any cancellation within 30 days of sailing will be 100%.  Life does get in the way of our plans sometimes and we think it is important to protect your trip investment so you can relax and enjoy your trip. Although rare, flight delays, baggage loss or even an unexpected sickness or injury could impact your travel plans. Please consider insuring your travel package when making your reservation.

Anything else you think I should know or do?

Yes!  We highly suggest you buy traveller's insurance for both your sailing and any flights you book.  The RCYC's top priority is passenger safety and making changes to keep all safe can happen.  Also, your own plans may need to be changed, too. Nobody can tell the future. This small expense will ensure your protection so that you can relax in the event of an unforeseen change.
